Thanks to Ayrshire’s mild Atlantic climate and long, sunny, summer days, these make the perfect recipe for nurturing some of Scotland’s finest and most famous produce. From moist, tender beef and lamb to delicious cheese, milk and - of course - ice cream, the region has long led the field in the culinary stakes.
The celebrated poet, Robert Burns, was proud to call Ayrshire home and it is here that his friends started the now famous Scottish custom of toasting his memory with a traditional supper of haggis each January. Always known for its food, Ayr was one of the first towns in Scotland to host a Farmers’ Market. Many of the stall-holders at the market are suppliers to Ayrshire’s finest restaurants where you can dine on the delicious local produce prepared by some of the best chefs Scotland has to offer.
